Too many of us have been affected by suicide and mental health challenges. In New Zealand’s construction sector, the statistics are sobering — we are six times more likely to lose a workmate to suicide than to a workplace accident.
Think about that. Every day, we navigate high-risk environments: working at heights, operating heavy machinery, lifting materials, using power tools, and managing trenches. Yet, the greatest risk may be the one we can’t see — the mental load our mates carry.
